The National Library of Latvia also known as Gaismas Pils (Castle of Light) is a national treasure. It was formed in 1919 after the independent Republic of Latvia was proclaimed in 1918.
This new building was opened in 2014 and is now a dominant feature of Riga’s cityscape.
I absolutely love this edifice, both inside and out. I painted it in 2014 to celebrate its grand opening.
