Riga, Latvia
I painted this piece from a photo that I had taken back in 2013. The main park on the edge of Riga’s Old Town is Bastejkalns Park. Riga’s water canal flows through the park. It is very beautiful and is appointed with multiple flower gardens, sculptures and bridges.
This little bridge is the place where countless couples fasten padlocks with their names and wedding dates. In recent years, many adopting families fasten padlocks with the engraved names of family members including the newly adopted Latvian child.
