My teacher, Kaspars Zarins, often encouraged his students to paint still life paintings that incorporate pages from interesting art books into the design. This painting is a tribute to one of his favorite painters, the Irish born British artist Francis Bacon. I painted it at Pedants Studio in Riga in April 2007.
